Hi, I am Danai Siamou-Kaarakainen,

and this is my story:

Since before the age of 2, I was in many ways an internal migrant.
Due to my father’s work we moved often, shifted environments, adapted to new roles and expectations.

I learned early how to give space, to observe, to sense what was unspoken, to adjust.
And at the same time, I carried the unspoken stress and grief of my family being away from home, while I was carrying my own question:

Where is MY home? Where do I belong? Is there a place where I can finally rest and be enough for what I am?

That feeling of being in-between
not fully here, not fully there
stayed with me for many years. It formed my personality.

And when I thought that I am done moving around, my path led me to Finland, where I have been living and working for the past 13 years (and, oh boy, has that been a wild ride!)

Migration was not just a change of place and a fresh start, but rather a deep experience of identity, loss, and rebuilding;
an invitation to consciously create a life that felt more aligned and grounded.

How this shapes my work

My personal journey is deeply connected to the way I work therapeutically.

I know what it’s like:

  • to constantly adapt

  • to hold multiple identities

  • to appear “functional” while feeling internally exhausted

  • to live abroad and feel unseen or misunderstood

This is why, in therapy, I prioritise safety, pace, and connection , not only through words, but through the body as well.

How I work

During the past 16 years of experience, my approach combines psychotherapy with body-based and wellness practices, supporting not just insight, but embodied change.

Together, we work with:

  • nervous system regulation

  • the body as a carrier of memory, trauma, and resilience

  • emotions that were never fully expressed or held

  • relationships, patterns, and life transitions

For me, therapy is not about fixing what’s “wrong”.
It’s about creating space for more truth, stability, and connection,
so life becomes more livable, not just manageable.

I work online and on-site in Greek and English.

A final note

I don’t believe in quick fixes.
I believe in relationship, process, and the human capacity to reconnect — when the right conditions are present.
